Our Story
Lara and George are professional wildlife photographers and Nikon Creators who moved to the Isle of Mull several years ago. They've amassed a wealth of local wildlife knowledge and have been sharing their passion and expertise for with guests since 2021.
They know the best locations to scout for otters and have a deep understanding of otter behaviour, ecology, and the appropriate fieldcraft techniques to ethically approach them. You'll come away from a workshop with a new-found respect for this elusive predator, and of course with those all important 'portfolio' images.
Your experience on Mull won't stop at otters. The sheer abundance of wildlife on Mull is astounding; white-tailed eagles, golden eagles, puffins, seabirds, seals, divers, red deer and fallow deer are all inhabitants of Mull. Summer visitors include humpback whales, basking sharks, minke whales, and even two killer whales grace the waves. Expect the unexpected because no two days on Mull are ever the same.

LARA
JACKSON
Lara graduated with a First Class Honours in BSc Zoology and a Masters of Research in Wildlife Conservation from the University of Southampton. During her university studies, Lara wanted to capture images of the wildlife she saw on her research trips, so she bought her first bridge camera at the age of 21. Specialising in black rhino feeding ecology, Lara spent the next three years of her life working on various research projects across Africa. In March 2020 the pandemic interrupted her life in Zanzibar where she was managing a dolphin research project, and she returned to the UK where she met George. With most conservation programmes bought to a halt, she began to carve a career for herself in wildlife photography and science communication.

A Nikon Creator and Save The Rhino Ambassador, Lara's work has received international recognition in prestigious competitions such as Wildlife Photographer of the Year. She's also been featured in numerous publications, including the renowned National Geographic Traveller. At the core of everything, Lara hopes to inspire people to reconnect with nature.
GEORGE
BENJAMIN
George grew up in Dorset with a camera in his hand, and was often found along the River Stour tracking his local otters. Fast forward a few years, he graduated from university in Bristol and went onto work for the renowned advertising agency Ogilvy & Mather in both London and Auckland. It was on his return from New Zealand that he swapped the corporate world for conservation.
For the last 9 years, George has been a full-time wildlife photographer and guide. He's proud to be sponsored by Nikon, as well as winning a number of awards, and is frequently featured by leading publications around the globe. His assignments, along with Lara, have included projects for National Geographic, Nikon Europe, BBC Earth, IFAW, and various NGOs. From the depths of the Congo Basin through to walking with polar bears, George's lens has taken him across the planet.

There's no place quite like home though, and George is happiest when out photographing Mull's incredible wildlife and landscapes with Lara, and their border collie, Dylan.
